Dr. Faith arrested
Cabaret Hotline:
Arresting cabaret performance?
How about this: Lisa Faith Phillips, who recently performed her funny advice for mistresses show with sing-a-longs at DON'T TELL MAMA reports:
"The other night I was arrested for putting up a cabaret poster! The NYC police told
me they were cracking down to clean up the city. They handcuffed me, confiscated my
small bottle of Elmer's Glue and remaining posters, and took me to the precinct
station at Avenue C and 9th Street in the East Village. I had to remove my shoelaces
and belt and they put me in a holding cell with homeless people and crack arrests.
I was in the cell for 4 hours. They said that in the old days they would have just
given me a summons but now they had to bring me in and fingerprint me, etc. Sadly
most of the delay was due to there being only one computer and a lot of slow police
officers needing to put in their arrest information!
I rehearsed my show in the cell
since my audience/cell mates had passed out. I was let out at 3:30 in the morning!"
